Community Involvement

Magnus wants to incorporate sustainable development in its business practices. In order to ensure a sustainable future, the company and its employees are involved in environmental, economical, and social causes.

Magnus takes part in La grande guignolée des médias - 2015

La grande guignolée des medias is a food drive that has been held annually in Québec since 2001. The organization’s goal is to help the less fortunate by promoting mutual cooperation and sharing. Its mission was without a doubt accomplished during the 15th edition of the event that took place on December 3rd, 2015. Together, participants raised $2.3 million dollars, which is $600 000 more than last year.

For the third time, Magnus employees, as a group, braved the cold to volunteer their time and energy for this great cause. Together, with their usual friendly smiles and effervescent team spirit (one of our core values), they managed to raise more than $6900. We are very proud to have contributed to the success of this charity event and look forward to future events.

Magnus joins the fight against prostate cancer!

November was prostate cancer awareness month at Magnus.

Several employees supported the cause by wearing a tie or bowtie to work throughout the month of November.

In order to raise funds for the campaign, designers from Sumesur created three types of limited edition accessories: ties, bowties, and handkerchiefs. The same material was used to make each item and all proceeds were donated to local cancer research foundations.

Denis Pichet, President and CEO of Magnus, contributed to the campaign by buying an item for each employee.

Idea Submission Contest - SQRD 2014

The Semaine québécoise de réduction des déchets is a week-long event dedicated to waste reduction. For the occasion, Magnus held a company-wide idea submission contest from October 20th to the 24th. Employees submitted waste reduction suggestions for Magnus. Here are the three winning ideas:

  1. Manage expiry dates in Aquassist, Jamie Chung-Hin
  2. Manage inventory, Marc Lortie
  3. Dedicate faucets exclusively to the handling of raw materials, Marc-André Dubois

Many other suggested ideas will be implemented within the company as well.

Semaine québécoise de réduction des déchets (SQRD) - 2014

Once again, Magnus took part in the Semaine québécoise de réduction des déchets (Waste Reduction Week) that was held from the 18th to the 26th of October. The committee in charge of planning the event, after its huge success in 2012, organized activities to raise fundamental awareness about the environment and 4R’s: reduce, reuse, recycle, and recover.

Magnus has been “green” for a few years now and wants to continue its environmentally-friendly efforts by implementing sustainable development throughout the company, its divisions and operations.
